Учим полезные слова и выражения по сериалу «Ведьмак»
to IMPLY - to suggest that you think something without saying it directly, to hint at something (What are you implying? - На что ты намекаешь? К чему ты это говоришь?)
PETTY - unkind and caring too much about small unimportant things (мелочный)
to GO SWIMMINGLY - to go / happen successfully, without any problems (идти как по маслу, без проблем)
NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST - not at all (ничуть, ни капли, нисколько)
to LEAVE someone TO THEIR OWN DEVICES - to let someone make their own decisions about what to do (предоставить самому себе, позволить действовать по своему усмотрению)
THE APPLE NEVER FALLS FAR FROM THE TREE - it means that a child always resembles someone from his / her family, shares character traits with his / her parents (Яблоко от яблони недалеко падает)
ODDS AND ENDS - various things of different types, usually small and not important, or of little value (мелочёвка, вспомогательные детали и части, безделицы)
TO THE CORE - used for emphasis - in a very complete or extreme way (до глубины души, до мозга костей, насквозь)
to FOLLOW SUIT - to do the same thing that someone else has just done (последовать чьему-то примеру, сделать то же самое, что кто-то только что сделал)
